So hearing about this Chinese virus... What software should I be downloading to avoid it!? I heard about it on the news this afternoon, and I really can't afford to have my Mac destroyed...... Please help!

I'll be honnest, I really wouldn't worry about it. There are so few Mac virus's, Apple is actually able to quickly release a patch to block it. BUT if you are really concerned, Get Norton security Suite.
More details about this mythical virus would be helpful.

I wouldn't even wish Norton on my worst enemy. It is so great at causing problems It is actually able to cause more problems by itself them it claims it will fix.

I've just heard things on the news, and am a college student that can't afford to replace my computer. I no longer can afford to have four jobs and time on my hands.... I was just wondering if anyone had any idea about this and something that I could download to protect my computer.

That article basically says nothing. Certainly nothing I would be the least worried about.
As far as I am concerned it is still a mythical virus even after reading your article.

It's not a virus. It's a Java problem. If you've been keeping your OS X updated, Java would have been disabled months ago, so you would be immune to the problem. Incidentally, anti-virus software did not detect this, so would not have helped.
The new malware is only a threat if you have Java enabled in your web browser. If you don't - which you shouldn't at this point - then you're safe.
If you do have Java enabled in your web browser, you need to immediately run Software Update and install any Java-related update, which should take care of the issue and remove the malware if you're infected.
