Ok, so they are similar. Are there any major differences in models.

Some sellers are trying to trade the 3rd gen. Models for twice as much as you can get them from the apple store?

Are they putting extra features on them and reselling them. I was under the impression that a current 3rd gen. Model is $100 so a first gen. Second hand should be substantially cheaper. Maybe this is not the case?

The latest version would provide you with a warranty.

There are major differences between the first generation model and the others. The first one allowed on board storage but lacked many of the features of the later ones such as AirPlay, netflix, iTunes match, Photostream, Flickr, hulu etc etc.

The second and third models are identical in their features except the later model can output at a higher resolution.
