Why does my Mac's battery not charge when it is above 95% full?
Whenever my Mac's battery is above 95% full, it won't charge.
Is this some sort of safety feature?

Not a safety issue. It is just the way it is supposed to work.
When the battery reaches 100% charge, the power adapter charges the MBP but not the battery. Then the battery slowly losses its charge and at the 95% level the power adapter will start recharging the batttery till it reaches 100% again. So the cycle continues.

It is so the battery doesn't do what is called Short Cycle charging. That is were the battery drops 1 or 2 % then charges back to 100%. That is bad for the battery. It is alos best to let the battery run down to below 50% every now and then and then do a Full Recharge to 100%.
