How do you edit a phone number that has changed in the icloud settings?

There are no phone numbers in the iCloud settings, could you please explain where this phone number is that you wish to edit.
I activated the icloud on an ipod touch with a new apple id but all my text messages from my iphone (different apple id) show on the ipod with my iphone number at the top of the screen
Settings> messages> send & receive.
i just updated my device to ios8. in the process, when i was asked to uodate my icloud, i was asked aphone number. i suppose this was a back-up number.
i accidentally put in the wrong phone number, and i want to edit it.
How do you edit a phone number that is used in the icloud settings?
