my iPad takes too long to charge

I bought the ipad second hand about 2 or 3 months ago and I always charge it when it's at about 5%. It takes far too long to charge it - but i'm curious if this is an actual issue with the ipad or if other people have the same problem because maybe the ipad was possibly made that way? it can take overnight to charge it completely (100%) as well
