Yes, a lot of folks seem to have this issue... it is really annoying. i have an iphone 4s , upgraded to IOS 6.1.2, and the battery is draining like crazy... read many blogs and forums, called up people, and i was told that there is no solution but to wait for Apple to release a new update !!!

Apple this is really annoying and disappointing. please fix urgently

I too am having problems with battery.

I was in Barcelona for the weekend and did not realise that the 6.1.1 'upgrade' had battery drain issues - fun trying to find my way back to hotel without my pinned location on google maps.

Very unhappy that there is no iOS roll back option.

Surely in this instance apple should allow to last working version.

iphone is the last purchase i will make with apple.

another loyal customer gone from the apple books....

I seem to be making a little progress, well should i say the battery isn't draining as quick!!!.

I deleted my email accounts, in my case Hotmail, Gmail and iCloud and also signed out of Facebook. I then did the reset holding both the power button and the home button together until the apple sign appeared. Allowed it to reboot up and then set up my email accounts again and signed into Facebook. I have then charged the phone up to max and so far so good. Been using my iphone 4s for around 4 hours now and the battery is currently at 68%...which is better than yesterdays issues - it was dead after 3hours. Hope this may be of help. 🙂

Delete your Exchange account. Reboot your phone (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears, ignoring "Slide to power off" when it appears). Do not add back the Exchange account immediately, but check the battery. If the problem is resolved then add the Exchange account back. It should be OK after adding it back.

If it is not resolved with no Exchange account and you have other email accounts try the same with them.

If the problem is not email, social media apps are the next suspects. Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Google+, etc.

In addition, if you have not recalibrated your battery gauge recently you should do that. Drain the battery until the phone shuts off and does not restart, then charge for 4 hours with the wall charger.

The final test if none of the above fixes the problem is to restore the phone as New and do not add any apps or email accounts. If the problem is still present you should take the phone to an Apple store for exchange; you have a hardware problem. If a phone with nothing on it has good battery life you can try restoring your backup. If the problem returns you have corrupt data in your backup and you will need to restore as New again, and manually add your content back. This is very rare, however.

I turned off "push" in the mail configuration and set "get" to every 15 minutes, in addition to kill all the applications and turned off the wifi. From that moment the battery is discharged at a rate of 1% every 10 minutes (similar to how it worked before the patch). I think the problem is related with mail software in this version.

Hi everyone. I recently updated to 6.1.2 yesterday and haven't noticed a difference as of yet.

I have had a love affair with Apple since my first iPod. With that being said...this is my first iPhone (I have the 5) and I couldn't be more in love with it. I'm so glad I finally left my old carrier behind and joined the iPhone world. I've had a Samsung slider, HTC, LG, Motorola, Blackberry, Nokia...but no phone yet filled my needs like my iPhone does.

As tech savvy as I consider myself, I don't care for Android. I have no use for the extra customization features that Android tries to sell. I like the simplicity of Apple. I feel the highly researched and loyal users out there can understand to the fullest extent of what I mean.

What Lawrence is saying 'clicked' in my head.

I will admit, when doing updates I generally don't do more than the auto restart. Like I mentioned above, I've owned a Blackberry and habits die hard...I like to reset my phone every few days.

While this may not seem all that necessary, it could be imperative when 'x' is looping in the background. Essentially, I compare my phone to my computer. After its been running for so long things HAVE to get clogged in the virtual spaces of my phone. I'm sorry, I don't live in a perfect world and my phone, as intelligent as it is, still and will always have flaws. Tell me a device out there that doesn't have it's kinks and has the same following as Apple.

(Fun fact: Q4 iPhone 4S and 5 overtook Galaxay III sales http://m.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_5_and_4s_tops_global_smartphone_shipments_for _q4_2012_-news-5575.php

To be fair the Galaxay 4 drops March 14th. iPhone 5 was released end of Q3)

What works for me:

I think I get about 7 hours of use give or take after I take it off the charger.

Every couple of days I let it die on it's own.

-I try to remember to let it fully charge from a fully dead battery.

I've disabled the iCloud syncing.

I've disabled the Exchange Calendar.

I use minimal brightness and generally keep it there.

-But, I do leave the auto-brightness on.

Auto-lock set at 1 minute unless I'm doing extensive reading that doesn't involve interaction with the screen. (It get sets to 3 mins)

I've received conflicting reports on 'force closing' apps and because of it, am less anal retensive, but I do try to close out apps (double clicking home screen button)

(When I remember) I disable my wifi if I'm not using it/not near it.

I delete cookies and history every so often in Safari.

-I do A LOT of browsing.

I've set mail to fetch hourly on two mailboxes, the other two are manual.

I tend to stay from music apps unless I have a charger with me.

I DO NOT turn off location privacy, I will take the battery drain. I'm so scatterbrained that 'Find my iPhone' has saved my butt.

I hope I helped someone, someway. My apologies if I offended anyone, but this IS the Apple website. (You know how proud Apple is so why would you be

I'm essentially in a relationship with my iPhone and for now Apple, we may continue until you leave my flat on my face.

P.s Isn't it redundant to post on the Apple Communities forum where people ask for help or solutions for their problems and people leave comments like, 'I'm leaving, this *****, etc'. I know, know freedom of speech.
