    Lawrence,

Here's my problem with all of this nonsense.  I'm a very experienced Apple user.  I have at least one, and usually more than one, of just about everything Apple makes.  I'm a Mac evangelist.  Why have I become so devoted?  Because Macs work.  Apple stuff just works.  Or it did.

Now, I'm having the same issues since upgrading my iPhone 5 to OS 6.1.2 as all of these people.  I shouldn't have to do restores, restarts, hold my tongue just right, or chant magic spells to make my iPhone work reliably.  I haven't hacked my phone.  I purchase all of my apps via the Apple app store.  I do updates asap.  My phone should work.

Apple needs to fix this.  When you make people, that are as crazy about Apple stuff as I am, start considering Android, you've really screwed up.  I need my phone to work when I need it.  I rely on it for my work.  I count on it for keeping me in touch with ailing family members who may need my help at any time.

If Apple is no longer in the business of supplying reliable phones, then I'll soon take my business elsewhere.

The point is these issues have been part of every release since the beginning of iPhone time in 2007. You first encountered it in 6.1.2; I first encountered it in 2.1. And again in 3.1.3. But NOT in any of the 5.x versions, and not in 6.1, 6.1.1, and 6.1.2. And for the 2 instances where I did have problems I followed the advice that I posted and fixed the problem.

I have an environment that stretches the limits, with 180 installed applications, 6 email addresses, 9 calendars, 12 contact groups from 3 sources, about 2 dozen apps that send Notifications, and 8,500 music tracks. And I leave everything on all the time; WiFi, 3G, BlueTooth, Location Services, Notifications. The only things I have off are most System Servces. With all of that my battery easily gets me through a day, and, as I charge overnight, every night, my phone is always available.

Perhaps these issues shouldn't exist, but they do, and always have. And, my Android using friends tell me, they do on their phones also. My closest associate with a Samsung Galaxy III leaves it connected to the charger at his desk. If he didn't he would not get through the day. Somehow it's OK for Android phones to consume battery like crazy, but not iPhones.

Before 6.1.2 my battery life was poor to say the least I would have to charge the phone around 2 or 3 pm. Now is even worse my phone was dead by 1 pm this is after the phone charged all night.

    I charged by 2:30 pm and by 8pm I'm below 20%.

I'm not even a heavy user. No webbrowsing and just a couple of calls no longer than 5 mins just music on the background.

C'mon apple get your act together. Really like your stuff but you are making me want to go to the competition.

    Hi All

I too am a crazy Apple follower, I have iPhone 4S using 5.1.1 and was very happy, hearing rumors about ios 6 being flawed I did not upgrade, usually I wait few months after every upgrade announced so the flaws are taken care of.

After IOS 6.0 it took few months then came fewer upgrades so just day before yesterday I decided to upgrade to IOS6.1.2, my error I did not read forum comments before upgrade.

Same problem as all you guys are having battery drained like flush water, 2-3 hours max.

Read forum suggestions finally I decided to restore my phone as new.

I had my phone backed up on cloud, but I decide to back up this time on my Pc, during backup says backup had error.

Again I repeat backup process and this time backup is ok. I restore as new.

Once done I restore my phone from Pc backup, halfway I get popup saying my backup is with error.

It was frustrating, finally decided to backup from cloud.

It started working, slowly as I have 15 Gigs all on cloud. I could understand, so I leave it on charge in wifi area and let it take care by itself.

Today morning I see most of my things are back except my pictures still being backed.

Best part Guys battery has slowed down draining, it's not very long time since, but considerable improvement.

    So pls try this.

Fwiw, I did what Lawrence suggested and it worked... :) thanks Lawrence.  I wanted to throw my phone into a blender! Now it is working fine, actually better since I looked up some battery saving tips while looking for a solution!!

I dont understand your topics, you write like it is normal to battery gone dead for 5-6 hours on 3G!

Nothing that are you mentioned doesn"t work!!

I try some other ways but nothing helps!!

    I try restore via itunes

    Sleep+home

    Disable icloud

    E mail removed

The battery is still going down!!

Today i will make another Restore for a third time!!

It is not true that on every IOS  update have a battery issuses!!!

Why apple removed 3G on/of option?, battery on 3G is going dead for 5-6 hours of web surfing on iphone5

    Is that normal?

Some people write to shut down everything!!

What is the point of that? Try Removing Sim Card??? *** that means!

I try everything and nothing works!!

You mention that you  charging  iphone overnight and  that you survive the day!

If you have 6.1.2 then it is impossible that you survive the day if you use the Internet on a 3G or WiFi!!

I read your publication, but you write things that does not improve battery life!

If you know the specific steps for the extension of the battery, then say so, but do not write that this is normal and that there exists Ever since the iPhone, it is simply not true

I'm using iPhone 4S. I use iOS 6.1.2 and since then charge cycle already three times so far. From those 3 full charging i got an average of standby time above 20 hours (the longest is 1 day 1 hour) and usage about 4-5 Hours). Usage for browsing, downloading apps, facebook, tweetbot and camera.

I turn on the 3G, Wifi, Bluetooth. Turn on location services for weather, compass, and notification also set to on for mandatory apps such as message, passbook, weather, share, reminders, calendars and some social apps such as line, whatsapp and viber. although i'm not using those app oftenly.

I  think this battery life is quite good. I restore it from itunes and previously download the firmware. So i manually download the firmware, press shift and click restore on iTunes.

I also had a good battery life on 6.1.1, almost similar to this one.

Is there any chance that my way of updating effect the battery life? I'm not using OTA or download the firmware from iTunes. I Hope this help.
