Q: Ios 6.1.2 still has battery drain!

I update my iPhone 5 to 6.1.2 a few days ago now I need to charge it 2-3 times a day ! We bought an expensive product and need an instant solution got it ? And enable the return of non satisfied clients !

Allow battery to go flat, then recharge.

Power up the phone

Delete all email accounts

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings

Check to make sure that Settings>iCloud>Documents & Data is OFF; do the same with Photo Stream

Do a Reset (Sleep & Home).

When the phone comes back on reinstate email account.

The above worked and the wife's iPhone 4 is now behaving itself - thankfully!

My iPhone 5 was unaffected as was our iPad 3.

ios6.1.2 is still useless

Exactly my sentiments, meegansman! I spent an hour and a half on the phone with senior advisor about this problem. He kept wanting me to troubleshoot i.e. reset settings, restore, etc.

The point of me calling them was to emphasize there being a problem with battery drain, Apple to acknowledge it, and tell me they are working on a fix. ha, silly me. He said it was a problem with one of my apps not "liking" the upgrade. Really? REALLY? So he told me to restore and add the apps back slowly to determine which one it is.

I tried to get the guy to acknowledge it's an upgrade problem, not an app problem. Nope, he wasn't having it. Finally the guy said if they send the problem to the engineers they would be told "troubleshoot it first."

That tells me there is a systemic problem in the culture at Apple. I think Apple is going downhill and it started with Steve  Job's replacement.

Android is looking better every day....

I was having the same battery issues after 6.1.2.  I reset my phone and reinstalled everything and still had the same problem.  After reading some of the posts, I turned "Push" off under "Fetch New Data" on my exchange account.  That fixed my problem and battery drain is back to normal.

My question is why should you have to turn push off to stop battery from draining iOS or apple should sort this problem out instead obviously there is some thing wrong with this update so tech support should really stop trying to fob off customers with all these suggestions cos majority of the customers who r with apple r having the same problem .

No argument from me on your point.  I was just trying to save people some grief until Apple gets it worked out and sends out an update.

It is interesting to me that we all are complaining that Apple sent out 6.1.2 too quickly and it wasn't tested well but we want them to send out a fix to the problem it caused now... which means it will not be tested well either.

Again, just trying to help people get past the issues until Apple fixes it.

EXACTLY Jonsta 1986!! Apple is blaming some app that doesn't "like the upgrade." Lame.

Just want to share. I also change the push to fetch, also delete and enabling emails but didnt erase any applications and now is much better. Before it only can survive from 9 am to 1 pm. Now from 9 am till 11 pm and it still show 52% (and i used the camera, editing and emailing as well ).

I have jus spoken to apple advisor and they basically told me to back up my phone and take it back to factory settings and trying to tell me that my phone is faulty when all the time I have used this phone I have had no problem with the battery and apple sed they can fix my phone if I take it into a store and they can sort it out of course they can cos I am spending bloody money that they have messed up for me

I guess the con game is about to begin. Well if you don't know how to operate your product then someone is going to make money off you.

My battery drained like rapid river flowing at 100mph(draining from 100% to 30% in 4 hours).

I found a solution that worked for me:

1) Reset iPhone to Factory Settings (as if it was brand new). I accomplish this by connecting my iPhone into my Laptop, logging into iTunes and reset it from there.

2) After the Factory Reset, I restored my backedup information from iCloud.

My batter now lasts forever. Been 4 hours with normal use (check e-mails, text a bit, go into FB) and from 100% it has drained to 95% with all the settings I want on.

The battery drain on iPhone 3gs or later is because of auto time zone under date & time in settings tab. If your location services are turned off, it would still search for time zone. Please turn off the set automatically under the settings General-Date & Time-Set Automatically-OFF
