Q: Ios 6.1.2 still has battery drain!

I just solved the battery drain issues on my iPhone 5 and one other. The one I got at Future Shop (here in Canada) I bought the Product Replacement Warranty. I took it to customer service and demostrated the issue and they promptly gave me a credit. I went back to the cell shop and asked how long they had their stock and if it was before 6.1.2 and two of the three people there said they were also experiencing the battery issue with their own iPhones since 6.1.2!

As the phones were older I got a replacement with 6.1 and woohoo NO battery problems! Thanks to the cute sales gal who extorted the money for the PRP out of me, I am safe for now!

One other phone I exchanged at the Apple Store. It was a re-furb with 6.0.1 but it is okay too.

Now I have to figure out what to do with the others!

You said the most common offender is e-mail related functions is especially Exchange iCloud etc....

iCloud is not the culprit in the battery drain.

If you go back and read this thread (and others) you will see many posts from people who said they resolved their battery drain problem by disabling iCloud.

Disable iCloud is just work around solution, I'm not agree if apple come and say this is a way to go. My opinion is apple must response and find a solution for customer and fix it. I still get trouble on my iPAD2 after upgrade to 6.1.2. And not agree to disable iCloud since it is disadvantage solution.

Yup, ever since I updated my iPad and my iPod touch to ios 6.1.2, battery has been draining really fast especially on my iPod touch 4g. I should have stayed on ios 5  

My new iPhone4S drains battery like crazy with ios 6.1.2. I don't have exchange and I never even turned on iCloud. Please fix my iPhone asap, I am worried for his life

ive tried deleting all my email account, turning off all my notifications,deleting facebook,twitter, but instead of working my battery is actually draining while charging! after draining all my battery its been at 1% and hasn't even gone up at all! APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS!!!!!!!!

maybe if we spam this and alike threads, they will act faster?

Yesterday after updating a few apps and trying them, I again started facing battery issues and here is what fixed it.

1. Uninstalled each  and every app I had installed.

2. Deleted all emails accounts.

3. Rebooted.

4. Reconfigured all emails a/cs back with push disabled.

5. Installed only the apps which do not run any background process and use push. Removed each  and every app in category of facebook, messengers,viber, dropbox, skype,

Battery looks ok again. There is a possibility that some apps are faulty and they eat more battery.

Remove facebook, remove viber, messenger!!

what will you achieve with that?

If you remove all these apps then my iphone does not need any, I'll buy nokia3310

Two things happen if you spam threads:

1. Your ID will be banned
2. Apple goes out of their way to ignore long threads, because there is so little useful content among the noise, and the purpose of the forum is to provide help, not to host rants.

Why would anybody accept the suggestions in this thread as valid workarounds?

They need to sort this issue ASAP, I went through the pain of upgrading from 6.1.0 to 6.1.2 to only discover the issue is actually worse!!

How the testers at Apple failed to find this, given it was a specific fix, is beyond me. Do they actually have a test department or do they just leave it to beta customers to find issues for them that are not skilled QA people.

I have done a factory reset on my phone apple customer care told me to and since then my battery has lasted 17 hrs yesterday and I have had no problems and it free most of my memory and I had 727mb left now since I done factory reset I have now got 3.2gb left and only got the latest iOS on here so I can say factory reset is worth doing cos I was one an angry customer now I am more than happy cos I thought I would have to go out and buy a new phone
