Feb 28, 2013 10:17 AM in response to Alister452by catehil,I erased all content and setting and set it up as new iPhone. No positive changes. It still depletes a percentage every 5 minutes of stand-by.

Feb 28, 2013 10:28 AM in response to catehilby Lawrence Finch,Just to be clear. You set up as a new phone. You did not install any apps. you did not create any email accounts. And your battery still drains rapidly? You have a broken phone.
If you DID create email accounts or installed apps you apparently resynced bad data, or you didn't wait long enough for your email accounts to finish syncing.

Feb 28, 2013 1:18 PM in response to Alister452by Rguzmanp,I'm honestly tired of all this people that keep saying turn off this and that remove push remove you email wipe your phone, delete this app if not then the other. Really what's the point of having the phone?. It's called a smart phone and its advertised as being capable of doing this things and running many apps one paid not just for how pretty it looks but also for what is supposed to be capable of doing.
Instead to all of you that keep with this nonsense of suggesting we turn off features on the phone, you would be of more help emailing apple asking them to fix this mess.

Feb 28, 2013 1:43 PM in response to Rguzmanpby lola839,Following is the link for Apple Feedback. If you are having battery issues, you did troubleshooting with no success, etc. PLEASE go to Feedback and leave Apple a message. Hey, even if you haven't done troubleshooting, PLEASE send a Feedback message. They will respond when they hear "officially" (i.e. not here) from enough of us.

Feb 28, 2013 2:32 PM in response to Rguzmanpby Lawrence Finch,You aren't paying attention. No one suggests turning anything off permanently. You turn something off to reset it, then turn it back on.

Feb 28, 2013 2:53 PM in response to Alister452by kvirzi,I had the same problem. Tried a few things with no luck, but before going and re-setting up everything with a clean install, I attempted to reset settings
settings:general:reset:reset all settings
that did the trick and it was way less painful then reinstalling everything.
Not sure why it worked for me, but hopefully it will solve the problem for at least some of us.

Feb 28, 2013 3:49 PM in response to Alister452by hoom,Just bought the Apple iPhone 5, worked great the first few days before updating to iOS 6.1.2 and now battery is draining like crazy.
This is my first iPhone and this is the most ridiculous downgrade for the $350 I paid for it.
Please advise!!!!!

I advise you to read the message thread you posted to, which has diagnostic advice on how to stop the battery drain.

Feb 28, 2013 5:54 PM in response to Alister452by Retox,The two iPhones I got replaced under warranty with versions 6.1 and 6.01 are perfect. 6.1.2 is definitely a bug! Bottom line it's just a buggy bit of firmware. Nothing more, nothing less. I tried all the workarounds too and nothing worked. Hopefully somone will get through. The folks at the Apple store I went to were aware.

Feb 28, 2013 6:07 PM in response to Retoxby Rory Jacobs,If 6.1.2 was "definitely a bug" - every device would have this issue. As it stands the greater majority of users, aren't experiencing an issue.
