Mar 2, 2013 5:59 PM in response to dblumfrommdby Lawrence Finch,Go into Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, and turn off any accounts that support Push. Reboot the phone. Then turn them back on. Push should them work, as this will clear the queue of corupt calendar/contact/email that is causing the problem. BTW, this is not original; it was posted by both Apple and Microsoft as a way to resolve battery drain problems with Exchange email. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4532
While updating to 6.1.2 is supposed to fix the problem, I suspect it only prevents it from happening with new messages. Any stuck in the queue still need to be cleared.

To gain some clarity for other users experiencing this issue - how many email accounts do you use and with what Servers (eg. Gmail, Exchange, Live) ?

Mar 2, 2013 6:04 PM in response to Rory Jacobsby Lawrence Finch,Good, sensible questions.
As a control, I do not have a battery drain problem with 6.1.2. I have the following email accounts: MS Exchange, iCloud, IMAP, Gmail and 3 POP accounts. I have Push on.

Mar 2, 2013 6:14 PM in response to Rory Jacobsby dblumfrommd,I have 1 email account; Microsoft Exchange.
p.s. I read the blog by r.a. parks. It suggested simply turning off calendar sync then turning it back on, rather than turning off the account. What is your thought on that?

Mar 2, 2013 6:13 PM in response to dblumfrommdby Rory Jacobs,I run iCloud and 3 POP3 accounts hosted by Windows Live. Push is turned on.
I experience NO battery drain issue with iOS 6.1.2.
dblumfrommd - I daresay we have isolated your issue. If this was me i would delete the account, restart the phone and re-add the account. See if issues persist.

Mar 3, 2013 1:22 AM in response to Theweirdguyby Rory Jacobs,I take it this is abnormal because you feel you haven't been using the phone for 40 minutes out of the 45 minutes since it came off charge?

Mar 3, 2013 1:43 AM in response to Alister452by haltom,I have the iphone 3GS. Running Edge, not 3G. I don't use Exchange. 6.1.2 is still killing my battery.
On OS 6.0.1 I could use my phone for 5-6 days. Now I have to charge it every day.
Can I get the 6.0.1 or earlier version back ?

Mar 3, 2013 2:37 AM in response to Rory Jacobsby Theweirdguy,I feel that i didn't leave the phone in standby for 45 minutes as i've been using it since i unplugged it from the charger, only left it on standby for a few minutes.

Mar 3, 2013 2:41 AM in response to Rory Jacobsby Theweirdguy,Now it's 2hours 18 minutes of usage,2 hours 39 minutes standby and I was using my phone the whole time.
-
Mar 3, 2013 2:57 AM in response to Theweirdguyby Rory Jacobs,That's how the phone logs usage and standby. Standby simply means the time since if it comes off charge.
If you took it off 10 mins ago and used it since - it would read 10/10.
