Show them this at an APPLE store and they will replace your phone with no questions.

Even in airplane mode the battery lasts just as fast. I tried everything.

I tried everything. And restoring the factory settings. And recovery firmware. DFU and Recovery. And turn off all email clients. And recovery as a new phone. I tried every method description. Drain the battery even when pulling out the SIM card and in airplane mode.

Unfortunately it is very difficult. I bought the phone in Hong Kong, and I live in Russia

I understand, but your phone obviously is malfunctioning.   In AIRPLANE mode, the battery should last for many days.   If you have access to an APPLE store, it does not matter where you bought the phone.   It is less than 1yr old and will be warrantied, no matter where you are.

If you have no access to an APPLE store, I understand things will be more difficult for you, but you need to be persistent until they replace your phone.   With the problems you are having, no amount of tinkering with it will solve your problem.

I, too, have tried all the fixes mentioned here in this thread.  The only thing that works for me is switching to "fetch" instead of "push".  I am not a heavy user, don't have a lot of apps (only the ones that came pre-installed and I've deleted some of those and close any that I do use).

Thanks for tip. I followed your advice and switched off both my hotmail and iCloud accounts, rebooted, and switched each service back on one by one. I now seem to be back to normal battery usage.

For info, I am on 6.1.2 (iphone 5) however the problem started a couple of weeks after I upgraded. I received a couple of calendar invites and sent one calendar invite, both via 3G / GPRS ( variable cellular service where i was), the morning it started happening, so I'm suspicious of the calendar, which is on iCloud.

Of mild interest, my iPad (wifi only) is also on 6.1.2 with the same accounts set up (hotmail and iCloud) and it didn't have the battery drain problem, which supports your theory.

Anyway, thanks for the work around, much appreciated.

This is getting silly. If this is not fixed by the time the Galaxy S4 is launched I am solving this problem with that purchase. Enough already!!

I can pretty much guarantee that it isn't going to be fixed in the next release because it is a problem in your phone, not in the release. So you should probably not wait to buy a new phone. Or read the messages above about how other iphone users have fixed the problem, usually pretty easily.

Lawrence Finch, can you have any ideas to help solve my problem?

"I have a problem. 32GB iphone 5 iOs 6.1.2 - fast battery sits. 1% every 3-5 minutes. 100% of the battery lasts for 6-8 hours. Drain battery is always: even if the phone is in standby mode if the conditions for using WiFi \ 3G, even in airplane mode or even a missing SIM card. I tried all the methods described in the customer support on this site. I restored the phone through Itunes and restored through DFU and resets the machine settings and network settings . to delete all data from the phone. now restored as a new phone without a sim card, that the phone is able to as "the store" but the battery drain is still 1% every 2-3 minutes. "

    Lawrence do you mean:

    settings

    mail, contact, calender

account (mine is yahoo)  : delete account

    account icloud: delete account

then rebot and switch each service back one by one

    Is this procedure correct?

    Yes, Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar

One option is to delete the accounts, reboot by holding both hardware buttons until an Apple logo appears, then adding the accounts back. You can also just turn all of the account switches OFF, reboot, and turn them back on.

If this does not solve the battery drain problem there are other things to try, but do this first. If this works it means that you had bad data in one of the functions of iCloud or Yahoo.

I almost forgot, after adding the accounts back or turning them on, wait an hour before retesting the battery, because it will use a lot of power resyncing the accounts with the server. This should be a one-time activity, however.

Restore the phone as a New phone. Do not add any apps, or set up any email accounts. This should fix the battery drain problem. If it does not you either have a hardware problem or your phone is jailbroken and there is something running in background.

If it does fix the problem add your email accounts, one at a time, and test again. Then add your apps, again a few at a time.

iOS6.1.2 has also introduced a draining issue on my iPhone 5.  It is really frustrating because the problem that 6.1.2 is suppose to fix had also affected me and I worked around the problem (clearing email settings and re entering them).

Now I'm back to not being able to rely on my phone.

In the last few month i have been burned by patched.  I have zero confidence in what is coming out from Apple anymore which is a shame because that was a key value proposition for apple products.  My AppleTV got bricked and I had to go looking for a micro-USB cable (that isn't supplied with the device) to revert the patch, last 2 out of 3 patches for my iPhone have made it unreliable due to battery draining.

I will spend a couple hours yet again, reading and following instructions to workaround the shody, poorly tested Apple release.

    I'm just so frustrated.

Try them one at a time. It's probably only one that is causing the problem (assuming that it is email that is causing it).
