Mar 18, 2013 11:19 AM in response to Lawrence Finchby Numnenor,Hi Lawrence,
Apparently you know a lot about this kind of problem (I have read all your responses on this and other topics). What advice can you give me for my Ipod. Already did a restore as new from Itunes. Do not synchronize any app or configure any emal account. Disable all services and features. In stand-by, without even touching the Ipod, they pass from 100% to 60% in 4 hrs, I repeat without even touching the Ipod. (previously let the ipod turns off due to lack of battery and made a charge of 6hrs)
Thanks!
PS: I understand that the problem is a "combination" of the upgrade with the settings you have in the device . But I can explain who launch iOS With This problems. It is not acceptable for an upgrade generate such problems. The upgrade should avoid creating such errors. Not that users have to find that app is crashing because of the upgrade. I hope in the apple store can recognized the failure and achieve change by a new one with the warranty. (I live in Argentina and the delay of the replacement is another problem......)
I post in this topic, because in Ipod Touch Communities don´t spoke about this problem....
Sorry for my english, I did my best

Mar 18, 2013 12:02 PM in response to Alister452by Lucian P.,It's all about 3G or 4G (depending on network). If you turn 3G or 4G off ... you will see about 25% - 30% + in battery usage.
I used to get about 1 day stand by and 4-5 hours usage time with 3G on. With 3G off I got 2 days of stand by and about 7 hours usage time.

Mar 18, 2013 12:42 PM in response to Lucian P.by twebeast,Just to add my voice to the many complaining of IOS-caused battery drain. I have a 4S for the record and the battery drain problems have turned up since I installed IOS6, so I don't believe it's hardware related.
I've been through all the recommended fixes here, to the point where yesterday I did a restore "as new phone". I left it as that (no email etc set up) and the battery drain perssists.
It persists irrespective of 3rd party apps installed; it persists irrespective of whether it's in airplane mode or wifi only, or 3G only, or 2G and wifi.
I can't turn the phone off (it just reboots) and sound is disabled for a short while after startup. This is persistently reported across many users.
So, whilst I'm sure many people's issues may be fixed by Lawrence's suggestions, I think Lawrence and others need to accept that settings/exchange/3rd party apps are not the only problem in town.
Either there's an underlying IOS problem which is currently making me want to throw my iPhone in the bin; or there's a systemic hardware problem.

Mar 19, 2013 5:47 AM in response to Zeljko83by Lawrence Finch,If you have 5 bars, it is not OK. If you have a weak signal (1-2 bars) then it is the best you can expect because with a weak signal the phone must increase its transmitter power by up to 10 times.

Mar 19, 2013 1:16 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby kip58rf,I, too, am having massive battery drain problems on my 4s, and the problem occurred right after installing 6.1.2. I have no new apps so it can't be the apps, and I didn't make any other changes other than upgrading to 6.1.2. This same thing happened a few weeks ago, and Apple admitted the problem and immediately had another upgrade to fix it. I'm hoping this will happen again soon!

The same way they admitted the had a bug after all of these updates? Or maybe it isn't a bug in iOS, it's a problem with your phone. And the solution is in messages in this and other forum threads.

Mar 19, 2013 2:58 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby Zeljko83,i just updated to 6.1.3
it seems that battery is slight longer on wifi network, il try on 3G tomorow, but it is disapoontment that they didnt return 2G on, i don"t understand why!! 3G is the main problem for me, they should leave option to users and not simply remove Edge 2G and switch to 3G that drain battery as crazy!!
and Lawrence why are you defending Apple and saying that users are only blame for battery problems!?
i still think that it is Apple huge security and quality problem!
simply i dont understand why complicate the OS, why not make sure everything works as it should.
To me, this iOS 6 is worst of all version that came before.

Mar 19, 2013 4:00 PM in response to Zeljko83by Lawrence Finch,I never said I was defending Apple; I said that Apple won't fix it, so if you want it fixed you will have to fix it yourself. 5 1/2 years of the same problem with no resolution from Apple should convey a message.

Mar 19, 2013 4:08 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby DarrylR,What problem is there for Apple to fix? I would ask how many apps, songs, pictures, movies, do you have on your device. That drains a battery.
