Other than updating Java, there is no perfect way to detect an attack.
You may not have Java installed after all. You can check it.
Finder > Application > Utilities > Java Preferences
Click "Java Preferences".
If a pop-up opens up offering to "Install", Mac does not have Java installed.
Click "Not Now" button and close the Application folder.
Safari > Preferences > Security > Web content:
If the box next to "Enable Java" is checked, uncheck it.
Best.
ok so did that and got a pop up and clicked not now, now why do i uncheck enable java, what will that do?
If Java is not installed you do not have to uncheck the box " Enable Java".
If Java is installed, enable/disabe gives us the control to use Java when we need it.
Best.
