how do you tell if your a victim of the recent java hack and what to do

so watching the news, how do you tell if your mac was affected, and is there anything you can do to fix it if you are in fact "hacked" thx

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Other than updating Java, there is no perfect way to detect an attack.


You may not have Java installed after all. You can check it.


Finder > Application > Utilities > Java Preferences


Click "Java Preferences".


If a pop-up opens up offering to "Install", Mac does not have Java installed.


Click "Not Now" button and close the Application folder.


Safari > Preferences > Security > Web content:


If the box next to "Enable Java" is checked, uncheck it.
