I just found out that my new iMac with Mountain Lion won't allow Final Cut 7.0.3 to work! Bummer. The arrogant Apple "support" just said, "Get FCX, it's only $299 and you can transfer your old FCP work over using a $10 App - 7toX". What to do?

There are so many small things that are installed into the System Library that Migration Assistant doesn't get and bring over. Use FCS REMOVER from Digital Rebellion to uninstall it. Install it from the discs...update fully using SOFTWARE UPDATE in the System Preferences.

No faster, eh? What are the processor differences? That's the only thing that determines speed of rendering, really.

I'm about to attempt the same thing -- migrate everything from my old iMac (running 10.6.8) to a brand-new iMac (running Mountain Lion).

Still using FCP7, with no intention of switching to FCP X.

Should Migration Assistant work for me? Would updating my old iMac to Mountain Lion first make a difference? (I've already purchased it for my laptop, just haven't used it on my iMac).
