I just cannot get my push notifications to work at all. All the settings are set correctly for them to work but they simply won't. It's making me so angry I just bought the phone today and already am encountering a problem.

Which app in particular isn't working? Can you give us some more information?
I have the exact same problem! The only app that works is whatsapp..

Did you check N.C:
SETTINGS > NOTIFICATION CENTER > Enable the Option BY TIME
If that option doen not work, check the next one:
SETTINGS > NOTIFICATION CENTER > Enable the Option MANUALLY
Then, EDIT and Select the Applications you want to get notified in the Notification Center.
