My Pages application refuses to open. Always says "quit unexpectedly"

It says "Pages quit unexpectedly. The problem may have been cause by the libCoin 60.0.0dylib plug-in." I have no idea what that means. Please help! I have never been able to use Pages before. This has always been a problem. It has never opened on my computer. I have a regular white MacBook. The system is: Mac OS X 10.5.8
