can't insert or duplicate blank pages?!!

I"m using Pages 09 and I notice that you can't insert blank pages where you want. They appear at the bottom of the page. Not cool. In addition, to bypass this I thought I would duplicate a page and then just erase the content. Doesn't work! When you duplicate a page it duplicates all the pages in the document. This doesn't make sense. Can someone explain how to insert a blank page anywhere in my 44 page document without it appearing at the the end or duplicating a single page and not every page?

A new blank page will appear at the end of the Section you are in.

Menu > Insert > Section Break

where you want the new page, then try again.

or

Menu > Insert > Page Break

thanks but i've tried that as well and anytime you click into the page thumbnails on the left a yellow boarder appears that highlights everything and forces the section break & page break to be greyed out. I can't click onto the pages to change them without this yellow, "highlight all pages," border appears. Thanks

You insert the break into the Text, not the thumbnails which only show what the pages look like.

The yellow border shows you the current Section.

Sounds like you just want a Page Break anyway.

You are treating a word processing document as a page layout document. Word processing documents add pages when need but Page layout you have to add pages. In WP you add content or delete content and the pages adjust accordingly. That is the beauti with WP documents. This you can't do with old typewriters. So if you need a blank page withou anything on you can insert a Page breake or Section break but they will make a beakk in the text flow.

Hmm. ok. just weird. even after creating a blank page that appears at the end you can't drag it up. I'll just export the document as pdf and then in Acrobat Pro add in the blank page. Thanks ya'll. Appreciate the help.

That is right. You still have to insert page or sections breaks. If you add two page breaks you will get a blank page. What are you going to do with the blank page?

Ted,

It's not weird. As Peter notes, you can't shuffle pages within a Section, or drop a 1-page section into the middle of another section. Very basic rules.

A shame really, because I always like to scramble the order of text in all my documents, just in case someone can work out what I've been talking about, or decipher the spelling and grammar.

Well on a different note how do I turn off or delete page numbers? LOL The inspector doesn't give you that option and there is nothing in preferences or style manager. just don't have microsoft word. Figure I'd bug all of you just one more time.

Select the page number, hit the Delete key.

Hello Jerry,

I see you talking about a feature that seems to be missing from the new Pages release and hope you can help?

New Pages no longer allows SECTIONS (in thumbnail view window) to be re-arranged like before? You could drag and drop sections (as in PAge view you mention) within your document the same way you could drag and drop pages in Preview's PDF documents. So how do you re-arrnage your document now?

ALSO

You used to be able to duplicate/copy a section/page by draging it with OPTION-LEFT-CLICK to a space below or above in the thumbnial window. The same way it works in PREVIEW in a PDF document. Did I miss something or is this also a bug?!

These were extremely helpful to me and I hope many others. Can anyone help!?

This is one of the reason; I am considering moving to MS Word. I always want to shuffle pages around and insert blank page so I know I have to come back and add more to that section.

This was not a very clever move iWorks team!

You making something that was super easy to us into complex!
