Good idea.
A separate patition is a good idea, Paul, but have you also considered an external hard drive? Great for a clone of the operating system and partition for testing software so there isn't any danger of messing up the internal drive.
Thanks, Sig.
Thanks, Ralph.
I will definitely have one off-site and two USB3 clones in the studio. But I think I'll take your advice and also add that partition to the iMac HD.
Do you have any other suggestions for partitioning or things I should definitely do/avoid when setting up the iMac?
Not really, keeping things in a separate partition makes life easier if one makes a mess...the startup sees that as not affecting the startup function...also a lot easier to cleanup since it has not contaminated the rest of your material.
You have been asking some thought provoking and interesting questions the past few days 😉
I should probably know a lot more about Macs after all these years----but I really appreciate all the the expertise, and those who so graciously give it, in these forums. So thanks again, Ralph, and I'll try to keep you big-time contributers' interest piqued!!
