Client machines not hitting lion web server properly

Hi , we have mac mini lion server with 12 client machines. Client users are able to log in to client machines an work properly. Web server is enabled and clients are able to view the web pages from the client machines when hit the url https://server1.local . But in client machine i am unable to view mydevices ( for example https://server1.local is able to view web pages kept in Library/server/web/data/sites/default, but unable to view https://server1.local/mydevices). we also have ssl certificate for server1.company.com . Please help me.

I don't know if this is the cause of your problem or not, but you should never use a ".local" hostname on a server that is an Open Directory master.

This has the potential to conflict with Bonjour, screwing up Open Directory.

Hi Jonatham, i can view the webpages from server giving https://server1.example1.com & http://server1.local. But i can only view http://server1.local in client machine.

its your DNS.

your clients should use your server for DNS.

to test:

dig server1.example.com from a client

if it returns the LAN IP of the server, all is good.

If it returns the public IP, then it will work only if your router supports nat loopback.

Best to use your own internal DNS for LAN clients.
