Audio going to wrong output

We have multiple AppleTV3s on the same network. Some of them will send the audio to a different device than the one the video is displayed on. Trying to change the audio output back to either the macbook or the appletv itself will cause airplay to drop. The issue is intermittent.

Is there a preference file on the macbook I can delete to reset the audio settings, or is there something I can set on the appletv to make sure audio and video are sent to the same device?
