It had good options such as noise reduction, which in logic do not work properly (silencer). And there were other good options such as spectrum View edits.
So when I have new system like mountain Lion and I downloaded Logic 9 from app strore, am I automatically deprived of using programs which I got with boxed Logic 8?

Actually, it IS possible to install STP2 from the original Logic Studio (Logic 8) installer (using Pacifist), and it does seem to run OK in Mountain Lion (though I have not done much with it since I have STP3):
Waveburner 1.5.2 and 1.6.1 also run.
That said, there were/are a couple of *really nasty* bugs in STP 2, particularly regarding the Noise Print/Noise removal process. STP 3 is much much better.
Perhaps the OP can track down a Logic Studio 2 boxed set, and gain the benefit of STP 3?

I tried to install Soundtrack Pro from my previous Logic 8 CD, and when i try to install SoundtrackPro.pkg it shows message:
Soundtrack Pro can't be installed on this computer:
The specified message could not be found for the index 0.
Why?
How can I install it?
Please help.

The version in the Logic Pro 9/Logic Studio 2 Boxed Set however, works fine...
In case the obvious is being missed however....If it is just CDs you wish to burn, you can do that easily with OS X.. simply by bouncing your tracks in Logic to 44.1k wave files, placing the wav files in a folder and then right clicking in the folder and selecting Burn from the pop up menu....
Or follow these instructions for other ways to achieve the same thing...

If you wish to have more control over your burns such as using CD Text or removing the 2 sec gap... you can purchase one of the many Apps for burning CD/DVDs such as Toast for example...

Yes, that's the case.
Since Apple doesn't support Waveburner and Soundtrack, plus the fact that users have paid for them in the past... Apple will probably never release the working versions that came with Logic 9.
Although it seems they could make them available with a download at your own risk disclaimer, but that's not the Apple way. It could make newer systems unstable and possibly cause grief for their technical support people.
oh, wait a minute... this forum is technical support... nevermind.

Heh,.,
Anyhow.. as an aside.. Isn't some of Soundtrack Pro's functionality now a part of FCPX? I sort of recall a few people saying that is so.. but I am not an FCPX user so I cannot confirm.....
At the moment both STP and WB from the Boxed set.. still work fine with Mountain Lion but I am sure there will come a point in the (not so far) future where they will 'break' under a new OS version unfortunately..
Audacity is a good alternative for the Audio editing side.. (and it's free) or of course Peak...
Thanks CCT...
I tried to run ( it was already installed so I didn't use Pacifist to install) STP 2 a while ago on a client's computer and it kept crashing as soon as it was run.. for some reason. I assumed it was because it wasn't compatible with ML but it seems it may have been related to another issue now you have said that...
and... given STP 3 worked like a charm, i never took the time to go back and see exactly why STP 2 had issues and just assumed (fatal mistake! 🙂 ) it was an incompatibility issue... and left it at that.
As for the Boxed set of LS2 upgrade.... I have seen a couple go for as little as $119 on eBay.. so it might be worth a shot... if both WB and STP 3 are worth that expenditure to the OP...
It's been discontinued by Apple who assumes you no longer need to edit or burn CDs, (or DVDs for that matter)
So, is the only way to install it, is by getting old cd with waveburner included and install it?
And how about Soundctrack Pro?
Same - discontinued.
Mainstage has been broken off as a separate app you can purchase.
