Moved pictures from old hard drive but much more than I actually have !!

I have just been moving my pictures from the hard drive from my now defunct laptop to my new one and it has taken hours to do it with it showing about five times the number I thought I had

When I look now there appears to be several "events" instead of just one. Some of them have a different number of pictures in.

Is this normal ? And has it created a different "event" when I have modified a picture ?

Many thanks

How is this connected to iDVD? Shouldn't you be in the iPhoto community?

Hi, many thanks for putting this in the correct forum.

I downloaded my picture file from my old hard drive to my desktop and then dragged it to the left hand side of iphoto whilst it was open. Was this a bad move ?? and if so how can I correct it ?

I have very little other photos in iphoto at the moment so to totally clear it and start afresh wouldnt be too much of a hassle at the moment and better than struggling later

Many thanks

If by this you mean the iPhoto library then you did exactly what you must never do

It sounds like you imported an old iPhoto library into a new one - NEVER do this - it does not work

What should you do?

to relocate an old iPhoto library to a new macine simply drag it to the pictures folder of the new machine and launch iPhoto

Assuming that you still have the original iPhoto library simply move the eisting iPhoto library form teh pictures folder to the trash and copy the original iPhoto library to th epcitures folder and launch iPhoto as noted above

Hi, I want to start this again and just need a little help first

Before I transferred the pictures from my old hard drive to my new laptop incorectly I downloaded about 150 pics from my camera and about 30 from a dvd disc. I still have the dvd disc so wiping what is now in iphoto is no problem and obviously I still have my old hard drive so transferring them the correct way to iphoto once it is clean is ok but the problem I have is the 150 or so from my camera as I deleted these after downloading. Can I retrieve them somehow or is the only way to move them from iphoto to my desktop and then put them back after I have wiped iphoto clean ??

Many thanks
