Someone in another disscusion mention that there some outtage... due to some maintenance by Apple.. it's only been a hiccup by a small group of users..

Try 1 thing, a different browser (Firefox and Opera are also working fine for me)

It's the same way when going to Internet Explorer... Either going into a Safari or Internet Explorer browser.. or using the Mail app on my Mac.. Or using the Mail app for Windows 8.. Or using my Mail app on my iPad. It's having problems connecting.. Hopefully it won't take Apple long with maintenance on their server..

Still can't send mail on my iPhone. I keep getting the message. It appears about 15 to 20 minutes after attempting to send an email:

"The connection to the outgoing server xxxx failed." The xxxx shows an actual smtp server IP address, but I will not share that here. That server, BTW, is located somewhere else and is most likely controlled by Apple or one of their service providers.

So, I can receive (some/all?) email on my iPhone, but I cannot reply to any. I also cannot access emails older than a few weeks -- an iCloud cache problem, perhaps. On my iMac, I cannot receive or access any iCloud services via Safari. As nothing changed with our hardware setups since we went to bed last night, it is clearly external to our domain and beyond our control.

It is not possible to conduct business without these services. It's hard to run your startup without some key tools! Whereas I've experinced a few hours of iCloud downtime before, this has been the longest downtime to date -- going on eight hours. I guess it is time to contact support.

Open terminal and ping the servers

imap.mail.me.com for incoming and smtp.mail.me.com for outgoing. If you can succesfully ping it is not a connection issue.

I am  in Indiana and have been having trouble all morning very similar to the issues described by the users in the stream.

I've had the downtime since 9 this morning... I actually sent an email out. But ever since then.. it's been very sporadic. My emails isn't loading properly... I'm not sure what caused this specific problem.. I'm just hoping Apple handle it as soon as possible..

It's been going on for hours.. I remember there was an issue with iMessage.. eventually Apple will handle the issue.. just not sure how long this will take..

Good thought. Both keep timing out.

And I am in Illinois and have had none. My clients (mainly Illinois) but also in Hammond IN and several in NYC are also not having any issues.

So you are having connection issues, I can ping the same servers without any problems, have you restarted your Mac?

Just hit the "me too". It attempted to say that it could not connect to imap.icloud.com and then that error went away but still isn't actually doing anything.

This is through Apple Mail, not a browser.

iPad keeps dinging as though I'm getting messages but that's not where I want to read them right now as I'm at my desktop. Other Internet working just fine (or I wouldn't be here).

Check your connection speed, latency and jitter.

Use this address and run the full tests.

I lost email connectivity on my iMac at approx. 9:45 PST - I'm in Los Angeles. Same symptoms as described by others.  Mail won't update on my iMac, and I can't connect to icloud.com on any browser.  My iPhone mail was completely offline for about a half an hour, but it is working sporadically now. If I send an email from my Exchange account, I receive it on my iPhone about 30 minutes later.

I'm happy to see in other threads that Apple has acknowledged the problem is on their end and they're working on it.

Yep, see my long post above with the screenshot. I did everything that I usually do to troubleshoot such issues. Also, Mail on my iPhone just popped up with this message: "Cannot Get Mail: iCloud is currently unavailable"

I guess that answers the question. There are some issues with iCloud. Okay, so I shift my work focus to something else for a few hours and check back later.

The rest flipped to unknown because I block java.
