iMovie video import issue

Hi,

I'm trying to import a number of video clips into iMovie to create a wedding video.

A friend has done their video contribution which can't be remade now but the mp4 files they've sent me will not save into iPad photos section or into iMovie. I've tried converting the files to .mov but still no luck.

Can anyone help please??
