heyy all
i've got a new iphone 4s and i needed to connect it to my laptop , well my laptop is old ( MacBook 3,1 ) & it has an old operation system .
so i tried to update it using the apple menu but it gave me this letter
and i tried to manually download the 10.5.8 update from the internet and it didn't work !?
my version is 10.5 ,, so does anyone here can help me ?

but as i said i've tried to update my laptop from the apple menu and then when it didn't work i've downloaded version 10.5.8 from either softonic or CNET i can't remember ,
and when i tried to update it gave me this message

At the Apple logo at top, choose About this Mac, report what OS version it says, then click on that to see the build version &reort that.

No, downloading from the US site won't affect a UK computer for example.

i just want to ask u sth :
when i downloaded the update it worked and told me to restart the laptop and i did
well when it turned on again it stop on the blue screen !! soo i shutdown the laptop ( force shutdown )
and now it's working perfectly ๐ ( is that going to be a problem for me in the future ?
question two : can i update to version 10.6 ? cuz if i can't i should start updating the other programs ๐

Yes you can upgrade to version 10.6, buy it from the Apple Store.

Just to be safe, do this once...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Restart in regular boot.
