6.1.2 update stuck in recovery mode

I used iTunes, with the iPod plugged in, to try to update to iOS 6.1.2. My iPod is now stuck in an endless loop of recovery mode. The iPod itself says plug in to iTunes. iTunes says the iPod is in Recovery mode, asks me to choose Restore iPod. Which I have done 4 times. Each time it takes 45 minutes to download the software update (really, each time???) and then goes back to exactly the same screen on both iPod and iTunes. Groundhog day. I have reset the iPod and get the same message.


Anyone else having an issue like this? Or any suggestions about how I can get my iPod back? I did a local backup as well as iCloud backup before starting this pr

Maybe:

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)

Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .


Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.

Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
