I have a macboook Pro Retina which a fan that's always running. I installed iStat for iOS and the temperature is running between 200-220F. This seems way too hot and I'm wondering if there's a problem with my computer or can I check something to see if there's a software issue?

Post an image of iStat pro and of Activity Monitor. In case of the latter, select to show 'All Processes' and '% CPU' to show values from high to low.

Thank you both for your quick replies. All I see in the Activity Monitor is Microsoft Outlook and Kernal_task that trade turns with CPU%. When I kill Outlook my temperature drops to about 170-190F. Attached is a screen shot of Activity Monitor.
You do not have a 'runaway' application but the temperatures are higher than I think that they should be. Try a SMC reset:

If no significant reduction in temperature, run an Apple Hardware Test ( You may have to start it via OPTION D).
