i want to know if i can have 4 g memory installed on my 2008 macbook

I have a Macbook, purchased in 2008, 10.5.8 and have been told that I should upgrade to a newer operating system. My system can no longer be updated. In order to do this I need to increase my memory from 2G-4G, but was told by the Geek Squad that this may not be possible on my computer, given its age. How can I find this out?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Disregard whatever the Geek Squad told you.

Go to Crucial and download the little app that examines your system and recommends RAM upgrade options.

Their prices are good but don't have to buy memory from them - determine what you need and buy it from Crucial or OWC / MacSales.

A Mid 2007 MacBook can only be upgraded to 3 GB. a Late 2007 or later can be upgraded to at least 4 GB.

To determine which MacBook you have click the Apple () menu and select About This Mac.

To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
