Map backgrounds are not displaying on my 4s

I am having the same issue with an iPhone 4S running on 6.1.2. Shows only as a green layer (parks and such) but no streets. In standard view I can find places, current location is accurate, but no street (or other layers) information, across the globe. The satellite view works, the hybrid view works but with no street names. I have tried home+power buttons reset but to no avail. Not sure when it stopped working exactly, if before or after the 6.1.2 update.

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Shut down and restart the app...

- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List

- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle

- Press the red (-) to delete the offending app from this list.

- Press the home button twice when done.

- Restart the app

To PaulCB - I have done that twice prior to posting, did not solve the problem for me.

Then your next step is to restore with your backup, unless you've tried that already.

And if restoring from your backup has the same issue, it's likely the issue is saved within your backup. In this case, backup all your music, photos, apps, etc and restore as new. You'll have to re-enter all your personal settings so you may want to write those down, especially your email account info.

Thanks Paul and Serg. I wanted to avoid the nuclear option if at all possible, I have also written to Apple, let's see if they come up with anything. If not, restore as new will be. Cheers,

The nuclear option was the only thing that worked. Luckily the restore from the iCloud backup worked as well. Good luck.
