I have a couple of family videos on FCPX. After trying to download to Vimeo I figured out the videos are too large, 8:41 Thinking about buying Compressor. Would that help with the problem? Thanks in advance.
Possibly, COmpressor could help.
FCP's Share presets for Vimeo are pretty good. Are you using those presets?

I usually use "share" and it has worked fine for smaller vids. Just this one that seems to be too large. Presets?

FCP gives several export sizes for Vimeo sharing – from SD to 1080P. Possibly the 960X540 size may work, if you haven't tried it already.
Compressor does give you more control – adjusting data rate, frame rate and frame size to better determine size–quality trade-offs.
