AE and ADT PULSE

Hello All,

I have a current generation Airport Extreme. I had ADT come out and install Pulse with my security system. The technician was not able to get the pulse iHub to work when the netgear powerline was connected to my airport extreme which is connected to my comcast cable modem. But when I bypass the router (connect the netgear powerline to the comcast modem) I can get the pulse iHub to work.

I got the port number that need to be opened (if that is the problem) but when I open the ports through port mapping and update the AE nothing happens.

Has anyone configured an ADT Pulse on their AE with the netgear powerline?

The powerline stuff is working as per the instruction as to what should be lit up on the indicators. The Pulse iHub (this is what it is called and i think has nothing to do with Apple's iNaming system) has an ethernet connection and the amber light flashes indicating network communication.

I tried to connect my airport express to the pulse ihub with no luck either. So I think there is a block between the pulse ihub and the AE, like a firewall or something but I cannot figure it out.

Any help?

Thanks

Hi FstEddie

With Pulse, the following configuration is typical.

From the ISP modem (Comcast Router you mentioned), if there are multiple RJ45 ports one should be dedicated to the Pulse Gateway and the other port to your AE. This will keep your home LAN separate from the ADT Pulse network. Does the modem have one RJ45 LAN port or additional ones?

Is your modem doing the DHCP assigments or is AE?

It appears as though you are trying to connect the Pulse gateway to the AE product and then to the modem.

When you do that, what do the 3 lights on the ADT gateway show?

Alternatively we can help you directly via customersupport@adt.com so we can work with you by phone if you prefer.
