Allow DHCP Assign Hostname

Hello world,

This is part of the server.app uninstalling.

I found out that after I removed server.app and let its script cleaning up, my MacBook Pro keeps overriding the hostname which DHCP assigned with what it has been set. After a round of searching, I only found answer for how to overriding the hostname DHCP gives.

My question is, how should I do to make my box accept the hostname DHCP gives.

Update: I have tried to add HOSTNAME=-AUTOMATIC- to /etc/hostconfig but unfortunately it did not work.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Using following to remove the hostname.

$ sudo scutil --set HostName

Note: you might need to push return twice.
