how could i view hidden files not only in finder, but in terminal itself by 'ls' command?

Hi!

I need to view hidden files in my terminal via 'ls' command. As suggested everywhere, I run:

defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES; killall -HUP Finder

- and now I can view hidden files in Finder, but as for Terminal itself nothing changed. How could i view hidden files not only in finder, but in terminal itself by 'ls' command?

Many thanks in advance!

The Terminal works beneath OS X's GUI at the UNIX level, so it pays no attention to the defaults option.

To see all of the options (command line arguments) available to ls, type man ls and press return.

man is short for manual, and it will then show the manual for whatever command follows it. Press Q when you're done reading to return to the prompt.

But in short, you would type:

ls -a
