Q: iPhone crashed during iOs 6.1.2 download. Unkown error (-42110)
I'm using a Compaq Prasrio PC. Plugged in my iPhone 4 which is called "Laurie's iPhone". iTunes loaded normally and I was able to play music. I got a message that an update was available, clicked 'next.'
It ran through the download, and then awhile later I noticed that my phone displayed only the music-note iTunes symbol and a USB cable symbol. It was already plugged in. I tried to power down.
A message came up on the computer: "An unkown error has occurred (-42110)." iTunes has detected an iPhone in recover mode. You must restore this iPHone before it can be used with iTunes. I clicked RESTORE IPHONE. Got a message: "Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone "iPhone" to its factory settings? All of your media and other data will be erased, and the newest version of the iPhone software will be installed. iTunes will verify the restore with Apples. After this process is complete, you will have the option to restore your contacts, calendars, text messages, and other settings."
Because this has happened before when I've downloaded updated software, I clicked RESTORE IPHONE.
Pop-up: "iOs 6.1.2 fixes an exchange calendar bug that could result in increased network activity and reduced battery life. For information on the security content of this update, plase visit this website: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222>. I clicked NEXT then AGREE.
"Downloading 1 item (iPhone software update).
At 4 minutes remaining, got this popup: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes. Clicked OK.
Popup: iPhone Recovery Mode. iTunes is currently downloading software for the iPhone, "iPhone"
Next: "Your iPhone software is up to date. iTunes will automatically check for an update again on 3/1/12. Clicked DONE. No change on the iPhone screen.
