Wi-fi is greyed out and not accessible. I have tried the airplane mode/power off and turning off cell data and reseting and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any other ideas about how to restore Wi-Fi capabilities?

You should start with a soft reset (holding down your lock and home button). This will often times fix issues with a greyed out button. If that doesnt work then do a factory reset. Again, if this doesnt work, reset through itunes.
It is likely a software issue then. Take it into apple and see if they can provide a replacement, or help you bypass the issue.
The Apple store will generally expect you to have carried out at least
some basic troubleshooting as above posts

I am running OS 6.1.2 and am unable to turn wi-fi on. It is greyed out and not accessible. I see this has been an issue for quite some time and I have tried the fixes on this post and nothing seems to work. Any new ideas???
