How do I delete calendar events

I sent calendar invites to my boyfriend from my iPhone 4S to his iPhone 5 with an alert and he can't delete it from his calendar now. How do we delete old invites from his phone? I have delete from my phone, but once he accepted them they are stuck in him calendar.
