where have all the apps gone from my itunes

after lending a friend my iphone 3gs i found that he had jailbroke it, i was told if i reset the iphone to factory setting that i could plug it in to my pc and restore it to the way i had it before he borrowed it. i have done this but now when i plug it in to my itune account it does not have any apps on it and i cant find my apps on itunes please help as this was my sons phone and he misses his games but i can't put them on.

oh and i have tried setting it up as a new phone and the same problem there are not apps to sync with the phone.
