vCard formatting.

Hi, everyone.

I hope this is the right place to ask this question as I couldn't find any other.

I know OS X provides support for vCards and I have used Address Book to export a few.

There are a few questions I have about vCards and how to create them in OS X. I need to create a vCard but need to include not one but multiple website addresses and social media contact information for services such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Pinterest and Google Plus. The searches I have performed failed to return any template or guide showing exactly how to do it.

What are the data field or data delimeters used for the information above ? Does anyone have a link or a copy to a text document that shows how these data fields must be added to a vCard to be read and displayed properly ?

My idea is to create a vCard in address book and then edit this vCard document in a text editor to add additional web addresses and social media information. Do any of you see a problem with this approach ? If so, what approach would you recommend ?

TIA.

Hi, Jeffrey.

This is the exact reason for my question.

I have several e-mail and url addresses I would like to have listed.

In addition I also wish to add social media information for sites such as facebook, twitter, google plus, pinterest and linkein but haven't found how to do it. I would like to learn what data delimiters or fields I should use for these social media sites.

I tried to find a link on Google to a web page with information on this topic but couldn't find anything that was simple and easy to understand.

Any suggestions?

TIA.

I guess I still don't understand what the issue is. So you want more than one URL? Enter the first URL. If none of the pre-defined labels (homepage, home, work, etc.) are satisfactory, select "Custom". Hit Return. Enter the second URL. Repeat as many times as needed. Do the same with e-mail addresses, telephone numbers or whatever. There is no need to know anything about data delimiters.

Hi, Jeffrey.

I think I didn't make myself clear.

I will do what you have suggested. I can easily enter additional URL and e-mail addresses to the vCard file. However, custom is not the right label to use. There are specific labels to use for different types of data. Right?

And what about social media? I can't just use 'Custom' as the label, right ?

My question is: In the specifications for vCard files, is there specific data fields (names) that have been created for facebook, twitter or others?

I hope this clarifies my question.
