When I try to install an older version of Adobe flashplayer I get a message that says there is no application that can open it

I have a MacBook Pro and using Mountain Lion. Adobe automatically updated flashplayer and that wouldn't allow me to use my camera with skype. I uninstalled flashplayer but cannot install an older version, when I try I get, "Safari can't open the "playerglobal11_4.swc" because no available application can open it."

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), Adobe Flashplayer

The update to Flash is neceesary to protect your machine from being compromised by Blakhole exploit compromised websites that host the latest exploits for Mac's and Windows PC's.

All it takes is merely being tricked to visit such a site and seconds later your machine is toast.

So you might have lost a feature temporarily, it likely is being worked on and will return when it does.

Go to Skype and see what the issue is and when it will be fixed.

Keep your machine updated and backup your personal data often.
