The Mac OS X v10.6.8 won't let me update anymore, what can I do to update it with the most recent update?

I have updated my iMac into Mac OS X v10.6.8 and after that update it won't update anymore. Is it possible for me to update anymore? Do I have to upgrade to Mountain Lion?

10.6.8 is as high as Snow Leopard can update.

You must purchase 10.8 via the App Store.
