iTunes Version 11.0.0.163 problem with iPod Shuffle

I downloaded iTunes V11.0.0.163 and can't figure out how to copy purchased songs onto my suffle. I've had no problem with previous versions. Can someone tell me how? Copy and paste, drag and drop don't work anymore. In trying it changed the name of the target playlist to the name of the alblum with the song title appended to it but didn't add the song. I'd restore and rebuild the shuffle but am afraid I won't be able to add music to it.
