At the bottom of my imac where the download icon is now not there how do i get it back?
Choose Home from the Finder's Go menu and drag it back from there.

Go to your home user directory. The Downloads folder is usually in your home user folder.
Click once on that downloads folder and drag it over to the right hand end of the dock and hold it on the dock for a few seconds, then let go. It should then be restored to the dock.
Pretty easy. Just right click (or option-click) on the download folder on the left hand side (under favorites) of your Finder Window. Add it to the dock.
