My MacBook Pro won't turn on, any solutions?

MacBook Pro was running slowly so I shut it down, it took a long time to shut down and then when it shut down I tried restarting it and it just loads a white page with the apple simple and a loading bar for a few seconds and then shuts back off

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

I accidentally hit the button that this solved the issue because I am using my iPhone to do this, the issue is still not solved
