Hi, can you explain what is happening?

Is it like static electricity, or it really attracts iron opbects?

Most modern monitors, including that in the eMac, have automatic degaussing. However, it is usually keyed to a thermistor (heat-sensing resistor) that does not allow the degaussing circuitry to run unless the computer is at room temperature.

So leave the computer turned off (not sleeping) for a few hours or overnight and, when you turn it back on, the degausser should fire. NOTE: If the screen image has been deformed by someone putting a magnet up to it, it may take several of these degaussing cycles before it fades away.

If the damage does not eventually fade, then the magnet did some sort of more serious damage  and the monitor is either shot or will need repair that can exceed the cost of a used eMac by several-fold.
