ios 6.1.2 update battery drain

Delete and reinstall all email accounts. If that doesn't work, restore the phone as new, without using a backup.

Thats is the worse solution ever made, or sugested by someone that realy knows what apple used to mean.

I have my phone for about 2 years, never had an issue, and after the UPDATE, my battery life last now, about 6 hours, with my average usage, and with the 6.1.1, it would last about the hole day.

So, I believe that the best method to retrieve a good battery life, is to buy a new phone ?

No one suggested buying a new phone. I suggest you actually read what was posted before humiliating yourself again by posting lame and rude comments.

Yes, I do understand, and assume right away that is the worst solution. Restoring the phone as a new phone, and not from backup, deleting all mail accounts, reseting network data and wi-fi passwords from every single router that you connected before, still, in my point of view the worst measure to fix something that wasn´t there before.

And I´m sorry if you think that I was humiliaating myself, assuming that I didn´t read the post. I did, with every single called "sollution", that again, in my point of view, is not good.

I wasn´t rude, I just tryed to compare, that someone (and not you) would sugest that is easily to fix, doing that, as it would be buying a new phone.

You don't have a choice. You could try Reset All Settings, but if if that doesn't work, restore is probably the only way to go.

BTW, I'm having a battery problem too, but it's a bit different. I get good standby times, but when I actually use the phone, the battery drains very fast.

Nonsense. Your first post equated (or confused) restoring the phone with replacing it. Now you are backtracking and trying to make out restoring as a draconian, near overwhelming task, which isn't remotely true for the non-cognitively challenged. To say that you shouldn't "have to" merely reflects an overdeveloped sense of entitlement.

BTW, your automotive analogy makes even less sense. Whatever you mean by "dismounting a car", no one would do so just to "check" fuel consumption, just as no one is recommending restoring the phone to "check" battery consumption. Both may be needed to FIX the respective problems.

But could you explain what happens if I "restore" my phone without doing it from back up?

I assume I can figure out how to delete my email and then get it re-connected. (my wife set it up when I was at work when I got my 4S, so I didn't do it).

Do you think the best thing for someone as challenged as me would be to go to the apple store?

My phone is eating battery after this update and I have every notification turned off. **** I can't get the thing to 100% even with it plugged in.

I did have this issue on IOS 6 when i got my iphone5 by restoring my backup from iphone4 to iphone5. And for IOS 6.1 i decided to start it with new without doing any restore & Battery issue REALLY SOLVED! Now, i just upgraded to IOS 6.1.2 and restore from backup from IOS 6.1. Battery drain is 10% on every 40 minutes time.. !!! Regret to upgrade, now i will do another restore IOS6.1.2 and setup my phone as NEW. I am iphone users since iphone3G, iphone 4 & now iphone 5.. During Steve Job time, no issue of new IOS release with all sucessfull restore from backup.. Now, i have to setup as NEW without doing a RESTREO from backup in order to fix battery drain issues.

The battery drain issue started when I updated my iphone 4 to the IOS 6.1.2.
The battery will go from 100% to 0% in about 3 hours !!!
I called Apple support and they told me that they are not aware of an issue affecting the battery with the latest update. They did a diagnostic test on my iphone and found that my battery is healthy. Then then recommended that I backup my iphone, restore the factory settings and recover after that. In other words, delete everything off my iphone and reinstall everything all over again. I waisted a couple of hours doing that and .....I still have the issue of the battery drain.
I finally discovered the problem, and thus the solution!
To solve this issue, do the following:

Settings ---> Mail, Contacts, Calendars --->Fetch New Data ---> Advanced

Now click on your hotmail account or your company email account (anything in that folder other than yahoo, gmail or aol),

Change the setting from Push to Fetch !!!

And Viola ! Problem will be solved !

The problem seems to be that the mail exchange (i.e. microsoft, hotmail...etc) keeps checking and pushing emails from the exchange server every second (continiousely) and this is causing the battery to drain.When you change the setting to Fetch, then emails will start downloading every 15 min; but at least your battery will hold charge as it is supposed to do, until Apple comes up with 6.1.3 that hopefully will fix this issue.

After another round of RESTORE.. eveything seems ok now.. No more battery drain issue.. monitor for 1 hour it only drop 1%.. phew...luckly..before that is 40 minutes 10%.. conclusion, new to do fresh install/setup and DON;T RESTORE your backup..

Modular747 -- It seems to me you are the one being rude. I read and re-read gfranceschi's comment. He/she is merely expressing frustration with the same issue many, many of us are having. Your comments were not helpful but rude.

The 6.1.2 update description states the following:

"Fixes an Exchange calendar bug that could result in increased network activity and reduced battery life."

So we all update thinking we will get IMPROVED battery life. Instead -- I now find it necessary to charge my phone 2-3 times a DAY. And he is correct in stating that the "solution" should not include deleting email accounts, resetting, reinstalling, etc., etc. ESPECIALLY since this update was to IMPROVE battery life! Apple needs to get on this right away and fix it.

Buying a new phone is not recommended by Apple ?

Like what I was told when an Apple update bricked my iPhone 3s ?

"It's not possible to uninstall your update, we suggest a new iPhone 4"

So excuse us if some of your older faithful customers are concerned when an update makes our everyday phone unusable for a full 12hr work day (as the did the day before).

So... Your advice to us is to reset our phones ? That means I need to collect my parents, children's &amp; my wife's phone, collect all their account data, re-setup, not to mention apps...

Is apple going to reimburse me for this time ? Are you ?

Reset ? Not an acceptable solution.
