Q: My apple remote is not communicating with my apple tv
The tv shows the Apple Menu with "Movies" highlighted. I am unable to select or to move the cursor on the tv using the remote. I am unable to perform a new pairing of my remote to the tv, or to pair my iPad with Apple tv in order to bypass the Apple remote, because I am unable to move the cursor over to Settings. I've unplugged everything (including Airport and Router) waited the specified 30 seconds and turned everything back on with no result. I don't know what to do. By the way, when I press Menu or Direction Arrows, etc. on the remote, Apple TV WILL blink. but the television doesn't respond.
Anybody have any suggestions??? Helllllp! And thanks in advance for your assitance
AppleTV 2, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen.
