my ipod is locked and disabled I want to wipe it clean how do i do this?

My son locked his ipod touch, I am trying ot wipe it clean and restore it to original factory settings on a new computer. I reinstalled itunes and plugged the ipod into the computer and it tells me I need the passord. The problem is he doesnt remember the password. Help!!
