why cant i download this update??

trying to update my airport firmware for some reason cant download 7.3.1

Which generation of the AirPort Extreme do you have? Are you trying to upgrade or downgrade the current firmware version installed on the base station?

It's about 6 years old running 6.2

Six years ago would potentially make it a 1st or 2nd generation 802.11n AirPort Extreme. Neither ran firmware lower than 7.x. 6.x firmware was used on the 802.11g AirPort Express Base Station.
