I have an older model Ipod and cannot get it to sync by checking just the Playlist I want added to the Ipod

I have an older model Ipod. I have it loaded but wanted to delete some songs and add others. When I plug it in to my computer, it will not let me choose which playlist I want it to sync with. I have tried to contact Apple, but they want me to pay for answers and I don't care to do that. Is there a way to email them?

The version on my Ipod is 1.1.3PC whatever that means
